What to expect

Veterinary Permission

It is a legal requirement to gain consent from your vet before physiotherapy treatment can commence. Our referral form can be downloaded here.

What to Expect From a Physiotherapy Appointment

We aim to make every physiotherapy session calm, thorough, and tailored to the individual needs of your dog or horse.

Initial Assessment

The first appointment includes a full assessment of your animal. We’ll discuss medical history, current concerns, and any veterinary diagnosis, followed by an assessment of posture, movement, and comfort levels to identify areas of pain, stiffness, or weakness.

Treatment

Based on the findings, a personalised treatment plan will be created. Treatment may include hands-on techniques such as massage, stretching, joint mobilisations, and other physiotherapy modalities appropriate for your dog or horse. All treatments are carried out gently and at a pace your animal is comfortable with.

Rehabilitation & Home Advice

Where appropriate, you’ll be given tailored exercises, stretches, and management advice to continue at home or at the yard. These support recovery, improve strength and mobility, and help prevent further injury.

Follow-Up Sessions

Progress is reviewed at each appointment, and the treatment plan adjusted as needed. Some animals benefit from short-term treatment, while others may require ongoing or maintenance physiotherapy.

Working With Your Vet

Physiotherapy works best alongside veterinary care. We are happy to liaise with your vet to ensure a coordinated approach to your dog or horse’s treatment.

Your Animal’s Welfare First

Every session is adapted to suit your animal’s condition, temperament, and energy levels. Your dog or horse’s comfort and wellbeing are always our priority.

Boarding Services

In the case of our boarding guests, veterinary referral will also need to be obtained for physiotherapy treatment to take place during their stay.
